A Departure

The last day here for Kevin, Amanda, and sons began with a group breakfast at the very fine outdoor restaurant here at the Bayview Marina complex. They even put a jar of honey on the table. This enabled me to lightly sweeten my coffee with it which, in my humble opinion, provides a modest taste of paradise. You may have heard of the land flowing with milk and honey. To clarify that concept I'd recommend a cup of coffee flowing with milk and honey.

After a couple of hours at the pool the taxi arrived to transport them to the airport. First, though, there was a parting family portrait ...

It was followed by loading luggage aboard the taxi ...

Then the long journey home got underway ...

The evening sky appeared to promise a powerful display as the sun formed a great red ball in the lower sky with clouds huddling nearby. Instead the whole operation elected to go the pastel route, closing the day with hues of an unequivocally subtle persuasion.

As a footnote I mention that today's entry has been typed under the spooky light over our dining table. We do not find it necessary to use this light and never turn it on. However the thing has a mind of its own and will not tolerate being slighted. From time to time it simply lights up. This of course is not generally acceptable behavior on the part of an electrical installation and under normal circumstances I would unhesitatingly apply authoritative action to establish who is boss. But when I contemplate that we are merely temporary residents here, and that such erratic behavior may be due to psychological disturbances and emotional issues that the fixture sadly acquired in its early, formative phases of manufacture, I choose to let it be.

Quote of the day:
"As the light changed from red to green to yellow and back to red again, I sat there thinking about life. Was it nothing more than a bunch of honking and yelling? Sometimes it seemed that way."
